If His Presence Fades... Would I Notice?
Can devotion remain visible, while the awareness of His presence gradually fades?
Can I still speak of the things of God, without discerning when He approaches… or when He withdraws?
The question is not whether I continue to act for Him, but whether I continue to walk with Him.
Scripture gives us a glimpse of silent warnings.
- Samson rose to fight, not knowing that the Lord had already departed. (Judges 16:20)
-
Eli retained his position,
while honor disappeared from the altar.
And it was later declared: "The glory has departed from Israel." (1 Samuel 4:21) -
The disciples walked alongside Jesus,
but "their eyes were kept from recognizing Him." (Luke 24:16)
Even sincere steps can miss a shift in His presence. Even holy functions can become insensitive to holiness.
Have I grown accustomed to the absence of the fire?
May these questions stir your soul and keep your fire alive.
Return to your First Love and may the flame never go out.
"The fire must be kept burning on the altar continuously; it must not go out." (Leviticus 6:13)
