SEMAINE SAINTE | JOUR 6 : LA CROIX, L’OBÉISSANCE ACCOMPLIE

HOLY WEEK | DAY 6: THE CROSS, OBEDIENCE ACCOMPLISHED

Before the crucifixion, Jesus went to Gethsemane. It was there that the decision was made.

He prayed: "Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done." (Luke 22:42)

This moment is crucial, as it shows that the cross was not imposed on him. It was accepted. After that, events unfolded rapidly: Jesus was arrested, judged, and then led to Golgotha. Scripture states:
"When they came to the place called The Skull, there they crucified him..." (Luke 23:33)

On the cross, Jesus neither resisted nor tried to defend himself. On the contrary, he said:
"Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do." (Luke 23:34)

This defines the meaning of the cross:
  • Obedience carried to the end
  • Forgiveness granted in the heart of suffering
  • Redemption made accessible to all
The blood of Jesus sealed this eternal covenant and opened the way to reconciliation with God.
The cross is not just an event to commemorate. It is the foundation of salvation.

And it establishes a clear principle:
  • Obedience to God is not conditional
  • It remains, even when it involves sacrifice
The question is direct: Are you ready to fully follow God, even when it costs you?

For the cross is not the end of Jesus' mission. It is its fulfillment.
Jesus Christ is Lord!
